Our Initiatives to protect the Environment
We are proud to be innovators in environment friendly initiatives here at the brewery. Our brewery is built in a natural setting only 15 meters from our clean natural artesian spring. It was not only a good idea but mandatory to be super careful with how we build and run our brewery.
Our first initiative was to minimise the carbon footprint by not trucking in our spring water. We have the super luxury of pipping it straight into the brewery.
Secondly we decided not to use harsh detergents for the cleaning of our equipment. We use ‘elbow grease’ and pressure washers. Its more labour but nasty chemicals don’t need to be stored on site and more importantly they are not washed down the drain.
Third initiative was on how we sanitise our equipment. We decided to use Ozone for that. Its produced naturally by lightning so we bought a fancy machine that uses an electrical arc to create free radical oxygen and then infuse the Os into water. No need for Chlorine or bleach to sanitise and again, when we pour it down the drain it’s only water.
Finally, we still needed to figure out what to do with our waste water. The solutions available were not sufficient in our opinion so we decided to implement the first in Ontario, brewery specific effluent treatment system. We are quite proud of this investment in our environment friendly efforts and welcome the opportunity to tell you all about it if you come for a brewery tour.
Our Taproom: Try before you buy.
We wanted our tasting room to be a space that reflects our beer, our craft and our community. We used a lot of wood from trees that fell just behind the brewery to finish up the place nicely.
We hope you enjoy our space while you sample some of our beers to decide which ones you would like to take home.
Dad even used the wood that he milled himself for making our tap handles and our carrying crates.
